Week 1: Circus Time
Let’s runaway with the circus! Campers will create colorful circus decorations, play games, tumble on mats, balance on beams, practice juggling, do crafts, play with bubbles, and make watermelon slushies for circus treats.
Participants must be 4 years to 7 years old when the program starts.
Week 2: Nature and Art
Campers will explore and collect natural items from the school gardens and on nature walks along the Sacramento River to inspire their projects. They will make paint brushes from the items they find and use them to create artwork, pick flowers from the garden to make flower arrangements that inspire their water color painting throughout the week, create outdoor art with chalk and water during free play, and the end of the week children will host an art gallery to display work for parents.

Week 3: Jr. Chef’s kitchen
It’s time to cook!!! Children will be cutting, peeling, mixing, and chopping fruit and veggies. Children
will make delicious snacks and refreshing fruit infused drinking water for our class. Campers will explore the garden and pick items out to taste. The mud kitchen and sand box will be open to make
pretend pie and cakes during outside play, and as a class we will make our own butter for rainbow toast. Each child will make an apron out of fabric and other materials to take home.
Week 4: Lets Go Camping
Time for an adventure! Bring your hats and hiking boots for a week filled with camping inspired play. Children will take a nature walk to explore the levee. Using our imaginations, we will pretend to build campfires, have a picnic lunch and tell stories. Campers will create leaf jewelry and bug repellent bracelets using essential oils and pack a safety kit.
Week 5: Over the Rainbow
What’s your favorite color? The children will explore colors by singing songs, playing games, and
making rainbow color fruit kabobs for snack. Using a rainbow of colors there will be rock and leaf
painting, fruit skins to create decorative garden pieces, a color scavenger hunt to
collect treasures for the fairies, and making playdough in a rainbow of colors and scents
like lavender, citrus, vanilla, and rose.
Week 6: Explore Dinosaurs
Calling all junior archeologists! This week children will explore the garden and sandbox looking for dinosaur fossils, decorate the yard with dino-sized leaves, make dinosaur fossil cookies and necklaces and craft dino hats and feet to stomp around with. Playdough will be available with little dinosaurs to make tracks, and at the end of this week each child will hatch their own dinosaur from a frozen egg.
Week 7: Deep Blue Sea
Dive in to a magical ocean world of mermaids, sea creatures, and hidden treasures! Campers will explore different shades of blue to paint a deep blue sea scene, play games and go fishing in our “fishing hole,” build pretend boats in the garden out of cardboard and create life size mermaid/merman portraits while engaging in water play activities throughout the week.
Week 8: Gnomie Gnome’s Garden
It’s time to get dirty and play in our garden! This week children will build a home for
the fairies using different natural items, go on a scavenger hunt to find the run
away gnome, create a tic tac toe game, plant flowers and herbs, and build a bird bath and bee sipping station for our pollinator friends.
Week 9: Yoga and Wellness
Take a deep breath and unroll your yoga mats! All this week we will focus on stretching, breathing techniques, yoga, healthy snacks, and taking time to rest and listen to the sounds of nature. And don’t miss out on the tasty muffins and whip cream to celebrate the end of an awesome summer! This week children are allowed to bring stuffy from home to keep them company during some of the activities.

Camellia's Early Childhood Summer Camp offers a fun and enriching camp experience in a Waldorf setting. Campers will enjoy hands on activities based on weekly themes as well as lots of time for outdoor play on our beautiful campus along the Sacramento River, lead by caring and experienced camp staff. Early Childhood Camp serves children 4-6 years old. If you have a rising 1st grade child who turns seven over the summer and are unsure which camp to enroll in, please email [email protected] to talk about options.
COVID Safety: We are currently planning to operate camp based on the same COVID safety protocols we have implemented all year long, including requiring face coverings, limiting cohort size, spending lots of time outdoors (and if we move inside, lots of ventilation), physical distancing, and careful cleaning and sanitizing procedures with the understanding that as guidance is updated protocols may be adjusted.
Wait List: Due to cohort requirements, camp registration is limited. If the week you want to sign up for is full, please email us at [email protected] to be put on the wait list.
Cancellation Policy: A family may cancel registration before June 1st and receive a full refund minus a $25 administrative fee. After June 1st but before two weeks prior to the start of camp, families will receive a refund minus a $75 administrative fee. Cancellations within two weeks of the start of camp will not be refunded. We reserve the right to cancel camp for any reason (including insufficient enrollment or COVID quarantine requirements), with full cost of enrollment refunded.
